Wildflower Walk and Moveable Feast
The Charringtons at Treshnish Farm are hosting a Wildflower Walk again this year, with Jeanette from Ballygown Restaurant providing a delicious Moveable Feast Picnic! It is on Wednesday 17th July at Treshnish Farm, near Calgary. Treshnish Farm has been managing its species rich grassland for Conservation for 25 years and one of the fields was designated a Coronation Meadow in 2013, part of the Prince Charles/Plantlife Coronation Meadow Project. There is always something to see and Lizzy one of the Rangers from Mull and Iona Ranger Service will be on hand to help with species identification!
Book your feast
There is no need to book for the walk itself but you must pre-book the Picnic. Please phone Jeanette at Ballygown Restaurant on 01688 500113. You are also welcome to bring your own Picnic – it was nice last year all eating together and watching Dolphins just off the shore below the farmhouse. (Not that we can guarantee that we see them again this year!)
The exact route for the walk will be decided nearer the time depending on what is flowering where, but it is usually between 2 and 3 miles in length. Please wear suitable footwear for walking on uneven ground and appropriate clothing for the weather on the day!
If it is wet we will picnic in the farm building. If it is dry we will picnic in one of the fields on picnic rugs. Please bring a camping chair if you need one.
Please be at Treshnish Farm in time to set off for the Wildflower Walk at 11am. Parking available in the farmyard.
Please contact Carolyne if you have any further questions about the event.
